Five trustees at the Vegan Society have quit after claims of racism and discrimination at the top of the charity.

The resignations came after the society asked a QC to investigate complaints against Eshe Kiama Zuri, who vice-chairs the organisation, who had “allegedly exhibited racist, discriminatory and offensive behaviour” on social media.

Ijeoma Omambala QC was also asked to look at allegations that Robb Masters, the society chairman, had “enabled and/or supported” Zuri’s behaviour.

In her report, Omambala concluded that content in two posts made by Zuri, who identifies as non-gendered, was “unprofessional and inappropriate”.

The society said: “The vast majority of complaints made against Eshe Kiama Zuri have not been upheld.”
